Starting Sunday, February 5, 2006, registration begins for our church-wide participation in Releasing Prayer Ministry (RPM). Everyone who attends either worship service will receive a registration sheet, which will indicate identification information along with general times of availability. Each person will then be contacted to set up an appointment.
Each session of RPM will last approximately one hour. The session will include the subject, a facilitator and an intercessor. The subject is the recipient of the prayer session. The facilitator moderates the session and directs the subject through the different steps of RPM. The intercessor prays for the subject and the facilitator for the duration of the session.
Here are the basic steps of an RPM session:
1. The session opens with the subject studying a Surrendering Prayer.
2. After agreeing with the Surrendering Prayer, the subject reads the prayer aloud.
3. The facilitator then reads an Opening Prayer.
4. The subject sits before the Lord and waits upon Him.
5. The subject shares any memories, thoughts, stirrings, or feelings that occur during the session.
6. The facilitator records on paper that which is shared and continues to encourage the subject.
7. After a period of time, the subject is asked, if they are willing to release the things that were shared, to the Lord via a Releasing Prayer.
8. The facilitator leads the subject through the Releasing Prayer in each area shared, according to the notes that were taken.
9. After everything is released, the facilitator asks the subject if they are at peace with each area shared or if they feel settled with the things shared.
10. The facilitator may ask that the Lord share any of His truths to the recipient.
11. If the subject is at peace or feels that things are settled, the session is ended.
12. If the subject is not at peace or feels unsettled with any given area, the session is continued or another is scheduled.
13. The subject may be asked if they would like to verbally or silently confess any sins that were made apparent.
14. The session is ended with prayer and all notes are shredded and everything is held in confidence.
15. There is no analysis of the session by the facilitator, however the subject may be asked to express how they feel or what they experienced during the session.
The reason why I just shared the steps is to help everyone who was unable to hear the sermon this past Sunday to feel at ease about RPM. If you would like to know the theological background of this ministry, you will need to acquire the first two sermons of this series.
Thank you for your participation and blessings,
Pastor Cory, d.v.
