Baptism

You may contact Pastor Dan Christian if you have questions regarding baptism.

Are you a believer in Jesus Christ who has not been baptized?

In Acts 8:36, the eunuch with whom Philip was witnessing, asks a question which all new believers ought to ask themselves.  He says, "Look, here is water.  Why shouldn't I be baptized?"  Philip's verbal response is not recorded but in verse 38 it reads, "And he gave orders to stop the chariot. Then both Philip and the eunuch went down into the water and Philip baptized him."  It is obvious from Philip's actions that there was not a compelling reason why the new believing eunuch should not be baptized.  The eunuch held a personal belief in and commitment to Jesus and so he was ready!

Do you believe in Jesus Christ and have you trusted Him for new life and the forgiveness of your sins?  If yes, then what keeps you from being baptized?

Baptism is an outward, public act of an inward, personal commitment to Jesus ChristTherefore, if you have made an inward, personal commitment to Jesus Christ, then God commands you to be baptized.

Baptism is a public way for you to express your personal love and obedience to Jesus.  This public act symbolizes that you have a relationship with Christ and the act of water immersion symbolically recognizes our union with Jesus’ death, burial and resurrection.  Because Christ died for us, we die to the penalty of our sins (Rom. 6:3-4).  Because Jesus conquered death, we may also share in the power and joy of being resurrected from death.

So, if you're a believer in Jesus Christ who has not been baptized, then why not?  Why shouldn't you be baptized?
