Dear Church Family,
Praise God from Whom all blessings flow! At 3:00 PM on Tuesday, May 22, 2007, the Lord allowed the escrow to close on the 17 acre property formerly known as Victory Outreach. Thanks be to God for His faithfulness in the purchase of this property.
We now have the honor and privilege of paying for the property. As it was with Joshua and the people of Israel, the land comes with a sacrificial price. The cost of the land and all the buildings was $20 million. Starting this month, we will begin making payments on the property.
There are two challenges set before us.
Challenge #1: We need to raise enough cash through our First Fruit Offering to cover the cost of preparing the facilities for our ministry use. The anticipated cost is over $1.5 million.
Challenge #2: We need to raise enough funds to cover our mortgage payments, which will be $83,072.97 per month. This will be our Monthly Pledge over and above our regular giving to the General Fund for the next three years.
The leadership of the Church Family is asking everyone who considers Evergreen SGV their church home to prayerfully consider two things:
First, how much the Lord is asking us to give for our First Fruits Offering. That is, what lump sum Cash Commitment does the Lord want us to give?
Second, how much does the Lord desire us to give on a monthly basis for the next three years?
Enclosed are two sheets that I hope will be helpful to you as you prayerfully consider what the Lord is asking of you. If you feel that you will not be able to participate in any way at this time and would like to be removed from the mailing list, please let us know via a phone call.
During the week of June 25, 2007, you will be receiving a second letter, which will contain a Pledge Card and envelope.
There are two dates to remember. On Sunday, July 8, 2007, we will be having a worship service on site at 2:00 PM followed by a tour of the facilities and a prayer walk. There will be no worship services or Church School at Rio Hondo College in the morning.
Sunday, August 12, 2007 will be Commitment Sunday when everyone offers to the Lord their First Fruit Offering and their Monthly Pledge for the next three years.
