Golf Ministry

The focus of the Golf Ministry is to introduce the sport of golf to younger players and to get members and unchurched adults to get connected into the church ministry. The focus is to outreach, fellowship and develop  relationships with those people who are interested in growing in their golf skills and learning more about Evergreen and their Christian faith. The golf ministry has a Golf Committee (made up of 6-8 members) who schedule, plan out and work the tournaments. The committee meets approximately every other month and more frequently during tournament season.

The ministry usually holds 3 golf tournaments per year. The first tournament is held at Monterey Park golf (April or May) geared toward the beginners and non-golfers. The format is usually a scramble. The second tournament is held in June at the Montebello Golf Course this tournament is also a scramble. The last tournament is usually in September and is held at various Southern Cal golf courses, this tournament is a Ryder Cup format.

Meeting location: The golf committee meetings have been taking place in the room next door to the CAFÉ and on the second floor landing in the sanctuary.

Dennis Cho Sports Scholarship Fund

Dennis Cho was an active member at Evergreen SGV.  He served on the Church Board and Trustees as well as coached many years in the Evergreen Basketball Ministry. Dennis had a passion to want to give back to the community and especially to the youth. If he wasn't coaching or playing golf, he was refereeing basketball games, experience and expertise in both the youth and adult ministries.  Dennis was also a valuable member of the Golf Ministry helping to pave and expand the golf ministry. The golf ministry would like to continue to honor Dennis by providing a scholarship to a graduating senior involved in the Evergreen Sports Ministry. The money collected from the Miracle Putt goes directly to the funding of the Dennis Cho Sports Scholarship
