MEXICALI 2019 GENERAL INFORMATION

Mexicali is a weeklong outreach effort to the area of Mexico just south of the California border (approximately 5 hours from Los Angeles) sponsored by Mexico Outreach at Azusa Pacific University (www.mexicooutreach.org/press/). Our purpose in going is to proclaim the message of the gospel of Jesus Christ. We proclaim the message so that people may be won in faith to the Lord and grow in faithfulness as His disciples. We partner with churches in Mexicali to help teach the children about the good news of Christ; some churches also participate in an evening service with the adults at the churches. Each ministry team, comprised of high school students (9th through 12th grade) and adult advisors, is based at one of three to four local Mexicali churches and supplements the long-term ministry goals and community presence of that local Christian body.

Evergreen SGV has a long history with the Azusa Pacific University Mexico Outreach program as we sent our first team to Mexicali Outreach in 1984! From 1985 to 2006, Evergreen SGV partnered with Wintersburg Presbyterian and other local churches to send teams. After a five-year hiatus, Evergreen SGV began sending teams again in 2012 and has continued to send two to three teams each year since 2012.

WHEN IS OUR TRIP TO MEXICO? Our trip begins Friday, April 12 and ends Friday, April 19, 2019.

WHEN ARE THE APPLICATIONS AVAILABLE? Applications will be available by December 9, 2018 via a link to an online application through the church’s database, The Vine. The link will be sent via an email to the Bridge Parent and Student email groups. If you need to be added to those lists, please contact Kathy Wada. You will apply via The Vine, and then turn in your packet of documents and payment.

Step 1: Before beginning the application process, check your availability for the meeting dates:

Special Note: Mexicali registration is open to Evergreen SGV high school youth in the 9th-12th grade & EBC SGV church plants. Space is limited, so please submit complete applications with payment. High schoolers who are not part of the EBC SGV or church plant ministries will be put on a waiting list and invited to attending pending space availability.

Attendance at the Welcome, Training, and Debrief meetings is required for youth from churches other than EBC SGV or an EBC SGV church plant. Absence from the required Training meetings, Team Bonding hangouts, or the Debrief may result in not being able to participate this year.
