Seeds of Life Church

by Kyle Shimazaki

My faith has grown greatly as I have watched Jesus build His church.  I have seen God fulfill things He has said, be faithful to His Word, and call people to His mission.  It is Jesus’ church, He’s planting it, He’s the senior pastor, and it’s all for His glory.  It’s all about Jesus.

This began with a calling in 2011 when God said He was going to plant a church and called me to be a church planter.   Early on while it was still confidential to many, one of our senior associate pastors, who was unaware of my calling, told me that he thought I would plant a church and could see me planting.  This was an encouraging affirmation.   I prayed and fasted with my wife Carol, and God spoke separately to both of us saying He would begin His church in Alhambra.  God confirmed His word when we were recently approved to worship at Garfield Elementary in Alhambra.   While reading Luke for my devotions God said it will be called Seeds of Life Church and gave me  Luke 8:11  “Now the parable is this: the seed is the Word of God.”  Indicating our church would be committed to the uncompromising preaching of the Word of God.

Our God-given purpose or mission is to glorify God by preaching the Word, reaching the de-churched, and making disciples by the grace of God.  We will be theologically conservative and culturally relevant in order to reach the lost and those who have walked away disillusioned with the church.   By the grace of God our vision is to be a family of believers passionate about loving Jesus, following Jesus, and seeing lives changed by the power of Jesus in the San Gabriel Valley.

God has been calling men and women of great faith to follow Christ to the church plant.  I look forward to co-laboring with Pastor Adam Noritake a tremendously gifted friend I have great respect for.  In reality it has been a bittersweet time for me.  I am excited to follow the Lord but will also greatly miss the friendships and our wonderful church.  I am humbled and grateful of Evergreen SGV’s years of unrivaled support of me and God’s work.  Thank you Pastor Cory and thank you Church, God bless you.
