“Blessed to Be a Blessing” in Thailand by Craig Wakamoto

Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”     Matthew 19:14

Having recently returned from our trip to ZOE, our Thailand team was reflecting on what were our favorite moments during our time of leading a week of vacation Bible school activities for the rescued children of ZOE.  There were of course many responses, but perhaps the most consistent response was the times of worship with the children.  As Auntie Reine had commented in our Thailand Team blog, “When they (the ZOE children) worship in song, the singing is exuberantly and loudly glorifying…it puts my zeal to shame!”   Back here at home, we might sing songs of praise saying “God you saved me,” or “God you rescued me,” because God has indeed done those things for us.  But, it was both humbling and moving to see young children (many under 8 years old) throw their arms up to God and sing these words with all of their heart, knowing full well  that each of them has personally experienced how God  saved them, rescued them, and brought them to ZOE.   Worship time was simply pure, unhindered adoration of God for who He is and for what He has done.   It must delight the heart of the Father to see and hear these precious ones freely express to Him the joy that is in their hearts.  I know that for our team, it was an experience that we will never forget.

Our team would like to thank you, our church family, and especially our Missions Support Groups (MSG’s)  for your prayers, words of encouragement, and financial support.   We felt your prayers covering us while we were there, and indeed it was by God’s grace and those prayers that all of the activities and teaching times went as smoothly as they did.   It is our hope and prayer that Evergreen SGV will be asked again to partner with ZOE to do a kid’s camp, so that more of our church family can personally experience the many reasons why ZOE is such a special place.

If you would like to see and hear more details about our Thailand missions trip, our team will be sharing more stories of God’s goodness during a luncheon after second service in the coming weeks.  Keep an eye out for the date, and mark your calendars to join us.  We’d love to see you there!
