Last night, I took four of my grandkids to a restaurant that features a balloon man who makes almost anything with balloons. One grandchild asked for a turtle, another a strawberry sundae and the oldest asked for a zebra. The last grandchild couldn’t decide so the balloon man suggested that he surprise her with his newest creation.
Everyone watched him as he took a series of white balloons and meticulously began putting them together. Eventually, he created a cute little lamb. It is absolutely amazing what the balloon man can do with his balloons. He is a creative genius when it comes to balloons.
It got me to thinking. The balloon man created a little lamb out of balloons and we were all in awe of his ability. My granddaughter received her little lamb joyfully.
This is the granddaughter who was recently baptized because she received another lamb into her life.
Almost two thousand years ago, God sent His Son, the Lamb of God, into this world. In actuality, God did not create Jesus since Jesus existed from the very beginning since He is God. However, in relation to this world and Jesus’ complete humanity (along with His complete deity) He was formed by His Father relative to His earthly birth.
I sat, as the balloon lamb was being formed, in awe of God who sent the Lamb of God into this world for me and all those who call upon His name. My mind echoed the words of John the Baptist when he saw Jesus, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!” (John 1:29)
As the balloon man finished his masterpiece, I was thankful for the moment of remembrance that because of God’s lamb, my grandkids and I can live a life now and eternally in the presence of God.
Have you made your decision about the Lamb of God?
