This I Believe – One Creator God

The Scriptures resound with the fact there is only one true God who created the universe and everything therein.

Deuteronomy 6:4 says, “Hear, O Israel! The LORD is our God, the LORD is one!” The Psalmist sang, “For You are great and do wondrous deeds; You alone are God.” Paul wrote in Ephesians 4:6 that there is “…one God and Father of all who is over all and through all and in all.”

Simply put, there are no other gods.

As Christians, we are monotheistic. Monotheism is the doctrine or belief that there is only one God and one God only.

Intrinsic in our monotheism is our belief in the Trinity. Jesus spoke of the Triune nature of God when He commissioned His disciples by saying, “Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit”. Matthew 28:19.

The doctrine of the Trinity is not dependent on a single verse, but the totality of Scripture. Our God is one God in the person of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Can I explain it? No. Do I believe it? Absolutely, yes! Our belief in such things is appropriated by faith and not by logic or complex rational thinking.

As a believer, I embrace the work of the Person of the Holy Spirit who convinces the world of righteousness, convicts the world of sin (John 16:8) and sanctifies every believer (1 Peter 1:2). I also believe in the gifts of the Holy Spirit who empowers us to do the work of ministry (1 Corinthians 12:4).

What does this mean? This means that all other religions worship an idol. It also means we have incredible resources through the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

Something to think about…
