Over the past several Thursday blogs, I shared several basic or core tenets of the Christian faith. In the previous blogs, I have shared that I believe in:
1. The Authority of God’s Word
2. One Creator God
3. Jesus is the Son of God
4. The Bodily Resurrection of Jesus
5. Everyone Is a Sinner
6. Salvation through Faith in Christ Alone
Finally, I believe in the second coming of Christ.
Jesus said in Matthew 24:42-44 “Therefore be on the alert, for you do not know which day your Lord is coming. 43 But be sure of this, that if the head of the house had known at what time of the night the thief was coming, he would have been on the alert and would not have allowed his house to be broken into. 44 For this reason you also must be ready; for the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.”
The Bible tells us on more than one occasion that Jesus is returning. I believe in the imminent return of Jesus. That is, He can return at any moment in any generation. Hence, trying to determine His precise return date is an exercise in futility.
I will say this; I believe that the time of Christ’s return seems to be close at hand.
What does this mean for us? It means suffering and pain will someday end. It also means that we can have hope in every circumstance because this is not our home.
In the first blog of this series, I also asked that as you read the blogs, to ask yourself the question “Is this, what I believe to be true?” What’s your answer?
Something to think about…
