Job-Searching Ministry & Outreach

Did you know that there are simple things job seekers can do to increase their chances of being found on job boards?  Want to know the “secret” of using LinkedIn.com to network with others to find unposted career opportunities?  Interested in a job search strategy to help you stand out from the crowd?  Need ways to remain encouraged during the job search process?

Well, I am excited to tell you about a new ministry called SEEK that offers practical skills and support to those who are searching for a job.  Sometime last year, I felt the Lord calling me to start a new ministry to help those who are seeking employment – including those who have lost their job, people in career transition, and recent college grads who are looking to start their first careers.  Due to my background in HR and my own experience of looking for work after being laid-off last year, I believe the Lord led me through a season of unemployment for this special reason.  My vision for this ministry involves meeting with people to provide support, encouragement, and individualized help with resume-writing, interviewing skills, internet job searching, networking, finding resources, and other job-searching skills.

This ministry is open to anyone who attends Evergreen, but also to unchurched friends, neighbors or relatives.  It is my hope that this ministry will be used an outreach opportunity to invite friends to Evergreen who otherwise may never desire to go to a church, but are willing to come to receive job search assistance.  Please pray about those who the Lord may be calling you to invite.

Deuteronomy 4:29 says: “But if from there you seek the Lord your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”  May the Lord be glorified as we SEEK after Him in all that we do.
