As a way of understanding the Worship Ministries of Evergreen SGV, we should first get an idea of what the term ‘Worship’ is in the first place…
We believe that worship is a focused, volitional response to a God who revealed Himself to us most clearly in the life, death and resurrection of His Son Jesus Christ. We didn’t invent worship, we’re merely called to respond to a gracious God who took the initiative to call us, love us, and save us.
We worship God by declaring His glory, goodness, and sovereignty through songs of praise, the conversation of prayer, and the proclamation of His Word. Evergreen’s Worship Ministries seek to facilitate the declaration of God’s glory primarily through our Sunday morning worship gatherings and through various fellowship and ministry groups.
We worship God by simply loving and expressing our affection for Him. The Worship Ministries seek to create a safe and hospitable place whereby people are freed up to give their hearts in love and adoration to God.
And we worship God by obeying Him. To obey truly is better than sacrifice (the mere act of worship). Genuine worship is validated by a daily, life-long obedience to the Lordship of Jesus Christ. In this regard, the Worship Ministries of Evergreen SGV are intimately connected to the Congregational Life and Outreach Ministries of the church. Worship, discipleship and evangelism are interwoven mandates given to us by our God. By His grace, He invites us to Come into His presence, to Grow into His likeness, and to Go and tell others about the greatness of this God we worship.
